As a food service establishment owner or manager, you know the importance of your walk in freezer and walk-in coolers, as they are responsible for safe storage of food and other types of inventory which could be anywhere in the thousands of dollars at any point depending on the size of your restaurant, catering business, hotel or bakery. So as a manager you will have to make sure that you are taking the necessary steps to ensure proper maintenance and care to make sure your inventory doesn’t spoil.
Here are some common problems that we see with Commercial Walk-in Freezers and Coolers that need repair:
No power – in most cases this is due to a fuse that has blown or your circuit breaker has tripped, if both of those options seem fine, then you could have some type of issue with the control board or other types of wiring problems.
Ice Building up inside the unit – This is an underlying problem which will require a professional technician, if you see ice building up on the evaporator coils and air vents.
The Motor is constantly running – This means your equipment is not holding in the cold air, so it runs constantly to try and maintain the desired temperature, so there is some type of leak that needs to be addressed.
High temperature – this could be from a few different problems, but most commonly it is due to either the evaporator having a buildup of frost, your staff is opening the door too often or leaving it open for long periods of time, which is allowing the cold air to escape or you may just be storing too much inventory inside the cooler or freezer.
Evidence of ice in the drain pan – either your heater is faulty or your drain pan line is clogged up.
